Last night kris worked overnight. I read 3 books but Cailen wasn't satisfied. I turned the lights off and she still wanted a story so I asked her to help me write a story. She caught on surprisingly quickly with long pauses between sentences and by the end we were laughing quite a bit.
The caps locks are the words she filled in, the story is based to the best of my memory from last night but it's the basic idea. It was fun. Here it is in a slightly different form.
Once upon a time there was a DRAGON who lived in a CASTLE that was PURPLE. So in the purple castle, the dragon had a friend that was KING. They lived in a town called COGGLESKILL. The dragon came over to the king and asked him what he was cooking. The king said he was cooking FOOD. The dragon was so happy because he loved when the king cooked food. The dragon was so happy he started to dance the COGGLESKILL dance. Then their friend the dog came along to PUT HIS BONE IN THE DIRT. The dragon said, we need that BONE for the GRASS!! The dog barked “coggleskill, coggleskill!” and the dragon started to dance the coggleskill dance again! The king’s wife the queen was named COGGLESKILL and she came down and saw everyone. When the dog saw Queen Coggleskill he barked “COGGLESKILL cogglskill” to greet her and then the dragon started to dance the coggleskill dance again! They were all really happy because they were having a party for Queen Coggleskill. At their party they had a cake that had frosting colors of WHITE, GREEN, PINK AND BLUE and it was covered in SPRINKLES. The cake was really beautiful but suddenly IT FELL OFF THE TABLE ONTO THE FLOOR!! (Unintelligible) bumped into it!!! The frosting was everywhere! (giggles) They didn’t know what to do with the cake so they WASHED IT UP WITH WATER. Then they knew someone had to go get more frosting so they had to send someone to the store…they sent THE CAKE. The cake couldn’t believe it had to go to the store with no frosting on….so at the store the cake bought a TURKEY and PRETEND SPIDER CLOTHES. When the cake had fallen on the floor the queen felt HAPPY. So the king asked the dog for the bone so he could make food and they all sang the song HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the queen and the dog started to bark “coggleskill coggleskill” every time they said her name and then the dragon started to dance the COGGLESKILL dance and it was very distracting for the people trying to sing happy birthday…
AMEN…(Cailen always says amen instead of "the end")
*About 2 minutes later...she was snoring. :]*
Maybe it's something you should try with your kids...It's fun! and you can write stories you never knew you could...because you just might not be as creative as a child :]
