Hello, pearly whites....

So now that I'm in my 28th week of pregnancy I am finding more and more that I feel light headed/dizzy/breathless. "What to expect when you are expecting" seems to find this normal although they mentioned as I had already suspected anemia could be the reason. The baby is getting all the important nutrition first and I get the leftovers. With people like me, who still have morning sickness this will most likely occur because not all of our nutrition gets to stay down in our stomachs. So I went to the grocery store yesterday, I was on the hunt for some vitamin'ish foods. Although a serving of GOYA black bean soup has 25% iron, it does a number on my stomach, but I did find a close alternative... (drum roll please...) Dried pitted plums! (not to be confused with prunes, although do prunes come from plums?) The brand I bought has 20% iron in 1/4 cup serving and they really don't taste bad. They are just REALLY sticky. I bought broccoli, carrots, spinach, tomato, grapes, pears... and I've actually eaten a lot of it. And I have been cutting down on the sugary junk food though not all together. Hopefully with better nutrition I will feel less dizzy and more able to function around the house and at work.

I went to the dentist today. I was really excited because my old dentist disappeared and i haven't been in 3 1/2 -4 years... My crowded teeth on the bottom have always had a brown stain on the inside and outside which the old dentist ALWAYS mentioned but only suggested a second round of braces. This dentist today surprised me though. She used an "ultrasonic" noisy, scrapy, water pick thing that much to my glee took off all of the brown stains on my bottom teeth that have been ticking me off for the past 10 years!!!! They are gone, inside and out, I am in total shock. I can't believe I haven't had a dentist who did this before, and it was part of a normal cleaning. What the heck? So, anyway, I am happy.

Oh, Dear... It continues...

I got called in to work this morning, which was fine because I got to sleep until 8am. I had time to shower, put MAKE-UP on (for once) and "style" my bangs more than usual. I thought, today will be a breeze. I walked into work with good spirits.

I got to work at 9:30am, and by oh... 9:45am I was complaining to Jeremy that I was having "hot flashes" not in the real sense, but I'm always drinking water while working or eating ice so I don't drink too much just to try to maintain my temperature. I was taking an order for my only table of 4... and thought... boy would I like to sit down to take this order. I was out of breath just asking "What kind of cheese would you like on that?" My heart racing. I survived, turned in the order, and soon a lady came in for a strawberry smoothie to go. Piece of cake right? Wrong!

I stood waiting for crushed ice to dispence... wooh... *sigh*... too much work...
Jeremy came from the kitchen: "You need anything?" I said "Yeah, air conditioning" (Mind you I think the high temp of the day was 70 degrees or so...) He chuckled and walked away... I moved the fridge and promptly turned on the A/C in the breaker box... the smoothie making couldn't proceed until I had A/C. I poured the ice in the blender.... breathed in heavily... got the juice and milk... poured it in... breathed heavily-er... thought "Am I really supposed to pour smoothie mix and strawberries into this seemingly "towering" blender??!!? My shoulder/back muscles were tightening up, it was getting overwhelming just thinking about lifting my arm again to pour something into the blender... I was seeing black spots... my hands didn't seem connected to my brain... they were merely floating in front of me.... I turned on the blender and leaned over the counter with a huge sigh... My customer asked "Are you okay?" I wandered toward the kitchen and mumbled to Jeremy "can you ring her out, I think I'm going to pass out..." I sat on the kitchen floor for 15-20 minutes?... sweating, weak and frustrated with my condition. (Jeremy later said I looked white as a sheet).... just when I thought I might be getting better, I thought "Uh, oh... I think I may get sick." But now I had to get my weary pregnant frame UP off the floor and run to the bathroom. But there was no time... I got up, ran... yeah,... like I said... there was no time... (sorry about the details to come) Mouth now "full" of... my former breakfast ... no time to get to the bathroom anymore... pushing the garbage can to the back of the kitchen.... Mouth now fuller.... Must get away from Jeremy and the food!!!.... I must push the garbage can to the back of the kitchen quicker!!!!!!! next thing I know I'm getting sick in the back of the kitchen... Jeremy quietly excused himself from my presence to go ... grind coffee... good choice for white noise....to ... drown me out.... Ah, how embarassing. Today was probably the worse "episode " of my pregnancy thus far... Just the thought that I may pass out on the floor of my job and potentially wake up to find EMT's hovering over me in an ambulance or something.... I don't know... Not good...

As usual, once my stomach emptied itself, I felt better. It's so weird. I don't get it.

Later on in the day, Jeremy's mom was sitting at the counter in the stream of air from the A/C & she said 'Boy it's cold in here why do you have the A/C on??' Jeremy just pointed his comically accusing finger at me repeatedly, "glaring" at me out of the corner of his eyes. I confessed, "It was me! I had an episode!" I am here to say, that I am so glad we are coming into cooler weather and fall, as my pregnancy will soon be in full bloom. I don't think I could handle being 8-9 months pregnant in July....

Walking home from work today, I noticed: My stomach is getting very heavy.

Fun in the Sun

Tuesday was a good day. Kris and I met 14 of his family members at Lake Taconic for an all day picnic that included Uncle Kris "the boat" for the kids... I think they titled him the S.S. Uncle Kris or something... We also rented a paddle boat and took turns taking the kids out, or should I say they took us out.... we found young legs that were eager to paddle the boat for us so we could just go along for the ride. (The B.O. smell on the rented life vest nearly made me sick though) All in all it was a good day to get out and catch a little summer before it disappears on us. Based on the pictures you can see that Kris is going to make a great dad. See why he's always been aailed as their favorite uncle?

Kris took a pregnancy belly photo for me while we were there... Here's what I'm lookin' like these days... 27 weeks and 4 days. I'm starting to put on a few pounds these days, which I should be I know... I think I've only gained about 10 at this point... I'll admit, once I passed my Glucose screening I think I started to celebrate by eating more sugar. I am working on nipping that habit in the bud right now... although, when I woke up this morning with the intention of having a healthy breakfast of a banana, wheat toast and water instead of Cocoa krispies or chocolate donuts.... the healthy eating backfired on me! I got sick after being great for 2 whole weeks again!!

In conclusion: It's back to the ol' chocolate glazed covered donuts for me.....
(Just kidding, everyone calm down!)
