I stand (though slightly hunched over) corrected.

I spoke to Keila today about her advice for my "walking problem", aka my cyadic nerve, aka my cramped buttock, aka my... okay never mind the strange taglines for my unborn child's torture of my rump... anyway, I wanted to make sure I didn't misquote Keila's advice and it turns out I did. She did not advise me to "spank" myself when my hip locked up, she actually told me to "rub" it out when my nerve pain ensued.... so she's not as weird as you all were beginning to think.... It's just me.
I'm weird.
Yes, I had to correct this matter.
Sorry. I hope it was at the very least semi-entertaining.
Upon rereading this, I got a little giggle out of it. I hope you did too.

The Picnic

Our picnic ended up in Collin's Park. The three non-pregnant adults played a little frisbee, while I held Cailen for her whoppin' 15 minute nap for the afternoon. We ate, Cailen's been picky with food lately so she mostly tried out the park's dirt or something...by the time she opened her mouth making a noise to tell me she'd like to rinse her mouth out, all I could find was dirt crumbs. We went over to the park area where Cailen rode the swings for literally about an hour. Every time we'd ask if she was done she'd sign "Please, more, and the sign she uses for swing" The sign she uses for "swing" is to flap her hands like a birdy because she's flying in the swing. Need I explain more?
On the way out of the park, we had to, of course, hit jumpin' jacks for some soft serve ice cream. Yummy. When we got home we hung out in the back yard, but soon Cailen figured out that a 15 minute nap for the day wasn't enough. She fell asleep at 5pm...woke at 6:15pm. Probably too soon for her own sanity and mine. She woke up very cranky and only wanted me to hold her. By 7:30pm Kris and I thought it was time to try walking me into labor again.... Cailen cried on and off the whole walk. The problem was, I couldn't carry her because I could hardly walk. My syatic nerve kept giving me a charlie horse in my buttock. So, I'm going around the neighborhood limping and using Keila's advice to "spank" myself to get then nerve to unlock...which worked to some degree but looked ridiculous in public. Cailen was screaming in her umbroller and Kris is getting a back ache, hunched over trying to push our umbroller of midget proportions. We were all quite a site. Needless to say, it wasn't the most pleasant walk I've taken to date. I thought I was having some contractions when we got home, but they went away... of course.

My Anniversary

Happy Memorial Day.
Well, I'm now two days past due. Doing the usual waiting game with labor. I suspect nothing will happen today in that regard, so we are planning to have our annual "anniversary" picnic with Ryan and Kiersten. (though normally, they aren't part of the annual celebration) Yesterday marked 7 wonderful years of me and Kris being married. Our tradition is to have a picnic... it's so much cheaper than going out.

Yesterday was church, packing to stay with my mom, catching up on naps and frisbee so we didn't schedule our picnic then. It was nice though because Keila had an extra lasagna to bring over for after frisbee and what I thought would be a little dinner with her family and ours exploded into some 16 people in my house having dinner. It was spontaneous and unexpected initially, and of course my house, which was all in order and ready to be left for a week or so.... ready to be looked at by realtors while we were gone, had suddenly vomited all over itself. Toys, dishes, and what I forgot to expect from a houseful of people who just played frisbee-- GRASS! I was feeling a little stessed out, since I thought Kris was going to need to leave right when everyone else did so he could watch the rest of the Laker's game at my mom's; and all I wanted to do is apologize to my house and pay restitution for the mess. Fortunately, Keila helped me get the grass swept, the dishes in the dish washer and the toys cleaned up with only a minor head injury for Ben. (Sorry about that shelf on the wall!) About five minutes after everyone left, my car was being packed up, I ran my last load of laundry in the dryer and a full load of dishes in the washer. The grass was swept and my house was sitting pretty again. But after my unnecessary stress, I found it was really nice to have a spontaneous dinner party on my anniversary, especially one I didn't have to cook! Thanks for the company everyone and thanks so much for the food and help with clean up Keila!!

This is the day...

Today is my baby's scheduled birthday... where is she?

We are planning on taking a monster long walk today.

Unfortunately, as some of you know I nicknamed my hubbie "bunnie" a long time ago, and this morning while mowing the lawn my brother ran over a very small baby bunnie. So, I'm wondering... if I was a person of superstitions, which I'm not, I'd say today is not a great day for baby bunnies. Maybe I should wait to have this "baby bunnie" tomorrow instead.

When asked to say the baby's name, Cailen can say it with only 2 distorted letters. If we ask her to say the name she says, it gets altered again and the name becomes "Wohwa." Don't try to guess it based on this info, it's not Laura, Brenda or Wanda... It sounds nothing like this second version of the name, but I think it's so cute to hear her say it the poor baby may end up not knowing her real name for a long time because we may just call her Wohwa.

It's funny how many of my closest friends call in a tizzy wondering if I've had the baby yet, somehow thinking we might forget to tell them if we did. Trust me, we've gotcha in the cell phone files, you will be called people. You will be called.

Cailen has a new obsession with stickers. Well, she's liked wearing them for sometime but it's increased with all this time we are hanging out at Grammy's house. Grammy has a large stash of stickers in her house and Cailen knows it. When we arrive at Grammy's house one of the first things she does is tap her nose which has become her sign for "Stickers please." She does this while I shop the produce section too. Sometimes it throws me off and then I realize "Oh, she wants to wear a banana sticker or an apple sticker" then she puts it on her nose... and thinks she's cool. All the while, she's getting the "Aww, how cute" stares... Yesterday, she wore a face full of them at the mall... What a weirdo huh? So anyway, all this to say that she also likes to decorate our faces and today I said "Put one on Wohwa" and now my belly is plastered with 30 pieces of "flare." She's pretty awesome. Here's a couple pics of us with my parents on our family fun day with heart stickers.
Here's also a family photo from march or something.....oh, and Ryan found another bunnie that he did not run over with the mower so we put the little guy on lock down until the lawn was done.

This one is for you Keila...

Apparently people still stop by this site from time to time.... and I've had a request from Keila for an update on "at least the background" because the wintery one I had was making Keila feel cold. So here I am, wishing that facebook was a better site for this type of blogging, but alas it's not. Facebook just seems to get more traffic from people I know than this site does. Hence, my neglect of this one... If I don't see comments for a long time, I assume it has been abandoned by it's readers as much as it's writer.

Anyway, I am eagerly waiting to see the face of my new baby. Somewhere around the next 16 days I know I will. In the mean time I have to remind myself to slow down and appreciate the time I have alone with Cailen and the time I have for mostly uninterupted sleep. My bags are packed... Cailen's stuff has already arrived at Grammy's house. Our name has been picked out, I think we just need to finalize the spelling. As usual Kris's preferrence may win because I have a hard time trusting my own judgement on naming another human being.... It's pretty nerve racking stuff. I think Cailen is going to love her baby sister, it's just the sharing me part that may be her biggest challenge. Fortunately, Cailen is branching out and becoming comfortable with new people or at least those she has shunned for the last 17 months of her life. Like Dwight on THE OFFICE she has gone from "Shun" to "Unshun" hopefully she won't recycle the shun part.

Today at the park, Cailen fell on the slide and her little top fang peirced her bottom lip. I thought, actually, her nose would have been damaged more than the lip... So, the lip bled, now has room for a 14 gauge lip peircing in it, (*wink*) but she didn't cry for more than 30 seconds and then she busted away from me and was back on the slide... What a trooper!

Well, that's my update... I never really know what to say anymore... by the way, my gut it uncomfortable.... contraction? Who knows.. I never really do. Ouch.... Well, I'll keep you posted on this new baby...
