A day in the sun

Yesterday was the Hannaford 125 anniversary picnic in Schodack. Unfortunately, not a lot of people came. It was a bit tough for me at times trying to juggle taking care of my girls while Kris played volleyball. I would be nursing Ri, with my cover on and Cailen didn't want the cover on me so she'd try to rip it off me, when I protested, she cried, as we disturbed Riley's nursing Riley would cry...fortunately, Kris would take breaks to help. On this particular break he decided to pour a bit of water on Cailen's head...she seemed a bit shocked at first, then he poured more and more, next thing you know he's shooting the water in her face. I kept thinking she would cry but after the initial shock there was always a shriek of delight followed by hysterical giggles. Then we noticed a spigot @ the V'ball pole so we let her play in that. If Kris turned it off to play v'ball she'd shriek "dada!" while sighing "please" for more water. It was lots of fun to watch...there are more pics of this on my facebook so come on by!

The park had at least 5-6 peacocks, a swan and some....quails??? Cailen loved to see them. She signed "bath" to tell me that the swan in the pond was bathing...After we left the peacocks Cailen sang "duckie,duckie,duckie..." to her version of the tune to the alphabet....ok, i typed all this w/ one hand gotta go before i get carpal elbow pit....

Sweet sisters

Right now I find that I am changing even more diapers than usual as Cailen keeps making me change her baby doll's diaper over and over and over!!! I think Riley has used up about 100 diapers or more and she's only been home for 2 weeks. God help us.

Cailen is seeming to adjust and become more and more caring for Riley. She seldom says "Hi" to anyone though she is able but all day long she goes up to Riley and in a sweet high pitched little voice she says "HI!"

Today Riley was sleeping in the car seat in the kitchen while I was cooking. Cailen left the room, got the box of diaper wipes and plopped them down next to Riley. I was about to ask her what she was doing when I realized that Riley had a small amount of spit up on her mouth. I believe Cailen was on her way fix it for Riley. So I gave Cailen a piece of a wipe and told her she could wipe it up. She looked at me all nervous and then completed her helpful task. It was really sweet.
She loves to pat Riley's back when it's time to burp her. She's always kissing her or making her kiss her cheek.

Cailen's first attempt to use her sign language with Riley was priceless. She signed blanket for her since she was wrapped in one. Then she took Riley's hand to sign eat. As Riley was now waking up from this big sister's attention, Riley stretched her arms in the air to wake up and my little sign language interpreter assumed Riley was trying to sign stars... So Cailen proudly waved her hands in the air and said "Daaahr!" which is what she sounds like when she says "Stars!" I said, "Yes, Riley does a good job signing stars too huh Cailen?"

Life is beginning to seem quite normal. Cailen's jealousy is evident at times but it's not nearly as bad as it was in the first couple of home coming days. I've even maintained somewhat of a clean house.... I actually feel like I'm healing much faster this time around. Thanks you Dr. Skory!

Buyers?

So a couple and their daughter came to look at the house yesterday. They have five kids (one's older) we have 5 bedrooms...they want to put a thrift shop in the living room... we live on the edge of the business district. I believe they have a sale pending on their house.... They were already assigning their kids names and paint colors to the bedrooms when they were here. They are coming back tomorrow hopefully, I guess just to take some measurements. So......I'm hoping maybe these could be the people meant for my house. I know God is going to take care of us, no matter how long we have to wait. I've been praying that this house will be just right for someone and that it will be a blessing to whoever buys it. Hopefully these could be the people. Pray with me won't you?

Updates

My little piggly wiggly is growing all too fast. Today in walmart someone said to another "Oh look at the baby it's probably not more than a month or two old..." She's only eleven days!! She's huge.
Cailen is beginning to adjust. The first couple of days of trying to get her to take a nap were a long 45-60 minutes struggle that involved tantrums on both of our parts maybe... ending in tears for me... This second day of no nap proved that she actually COULD fall asleep on her own (which she's never done)... here she is... crashed FINALLY at 7pm on the couch after watching tv. She's finally taking naps for me with some ease... I just pushed it back 2 hours later so that she's more tired and willing to sleep.
Otherwise, she's doing really well with her sister, getting diapers, wipes, etc to help. She always puts her cheek up to Riley's mouth so that Riley can give her kisses.
Anyway, no time for more stories really, Kiersten is holding Riley and I need to go see if Cailen will eat dinner.
